Motion

Motion is BKI’s tablet-first internal application for ship surveys. I overhauled its Surveyor module with a redesigned experience and expanded the SPS, Visit, and Form workflows for field use in shipyards and low-connectivity maritime environments.

I designed and implemented the offline-first architecture from the ground up with SQLite and Drizzle ORM, including reliable local data capture and synchronization. I also delivered complex form workflows and tablet-first interfaces for hundreds of BKI surveyors across Indonesia.

The main constraint was unreliable connectivity. Survey data stays local in SQLite, Drizzle keeps access predictable, and synchronization is a separate step so surveyors can finish field forms without waiting for a network.

Hundreds of surveyors can capture operational data reliably in low-connectivity maritime environments and synchronize it when a connection becomes available.
